1999 was a great year for our clients but it was also been a phenomenal year for us at Bedford Orchids:
83 points for our second-best Phal. amabilis;
80 points for Phal. Veitchiana;
77 points for Phal. Brother Brungor 'Brother';
77 points for Phal. Ching Her Buddha 'Bedford Cutie';
75 points for Phal. Perfection is 'Bedford';
2000 saw an HCC of 79 points, a first award for Phal. Venus Beauty 'Bedford' and a second award for us for the grex Phal. Perfection Is. This time 79 points for Phal. Perfection Is 'A Bedford Beauty', HCC/AOS.
In 2001, we received an 80-point AM for Phal. Brother Oconee 'Bedford' and an 81-point AM for a Paph. It is Paph. Red Glory 'Bedford-Bloomfield', AM/AOS. (No, we are not getting away from Phals., just a minor aberration.)
In 2003, we received several awards: a JC on Dtps. I-Hsin Chocolate 'Sweet Grass' as well as Dtps. Hsinying Kingbeauty 'Bedford', AM/AOS, Phal. Shin Yi Diamond 'Bedford', HCC/AOS, Phal. Tai-I Yellow Bird 'Bedford Gold', HCC/AOS, Dtps. Summerfield Rose 'Bedford', HCC/AOS, Phal. Chih Shang's Stripes 'Bedford', AM/AOS. Max Thompson received two 78-pt. HCCs for Dtps. Bedford Veitch 'Andrea Mohr' as well as the 'M & B' clone, two plants of our breeding.
In 2004, Mike and Barbara Sheridan (Wickford Orchids) received two (2) HCCs, 1 AM and an AQ for Rong Guan Amah, one of our hybrids, Ellen Manson received an HCC/OCNZ for Bedford Nonpareil and Max Thompson and Bryon Rinke received an AM for Phal. Ming Chao Arai 'Copper Queen', a stem propagation available from Bedford Orchids exclusively. Max and Bryon ended the year by receiving an HCC on a Phal. amabilis from a sibling cross that we made. Betty Levine received an HCC on Dtps. Yu Pin Valentine 'Nandy', a stem that she purchased from us.
In 2005, we shared an award with Mike and Barbara Sheridan on our co-owned Phal. Maki Watanabe 'Bedford-Wickford' when it received an 81 point AM. Later, our Dtps. Brother Success 'Bedford Best' received an 80-point AM at the Buffalo Show.
2006 has begun well. Our Taisuco Valenty 'Bedford Best' received an HCC on a poor blooming. Hopefully to be upgraded at a later date. Most recently, our Phalaenopsis Bedford Golden Victory received an HCC of 78 points and was described by the judges as "one of the finest colored and beautifully marked Harlequin-type Phalaenopsis seen by the judging team."
